Like a thick foam cushion, Open-Cell Polyurethane Spray Foam can insulate not only for air, but for sound as well. Unlike the denser, Closed-Cell insulating foam, Open-Cell bubbles burst allowing air to enter into its many pockets. This cushy, pillow-like material deadens sound on impact and keeps air right where you want it. Upon spraying, Open-Cell foam expands up to 150 times its original liquid volume, filling in all the cracks and crevices of your wall cavity. After spraying, any excess foam is shaved off the studs creating a flat surface for drywall installation. Offering an R-value of 3.7+ per inch, this product requires just five inches of thickness to create a complete air barrier in your home’s most porous areas.
Besides being a great insulator spray insulation for all walls of a house, Open-Cell is effective as a sound proofing material for media rooms and home recording studios. Open-Cell foam may also be direct sprayed to roof decks.
